33. Culturally Competent Therapists with Donn Bradley
Donn is a former police officer in the East Bay of California who is now a therapist specializing with first responders, military personnel and their families (complex trauma and PTSI). Donn is definitely not the patches-on-the-sleeves, tell me about your mother type of therapist. A little more “no nonsense”, Donn finds that the people with whom he resonates are some of the most “anti-therapy” people you can imagine, because that’s “where he came from.” Growing up in Oklahoma, he was steeped in the usual “emotions are weakness” mentality, and having somehow come out on the other side, gleaned from it some self-awareness and motivational tools that make understanding the struggle, and ultimately getting help, easier. Listen in and find out about the new “mission.”
